First Kicks. New Goals. A Place to Belong.

First kicks. New friends. A place on the team. Youth Soccer at the Y gives kids a welcoming place to build skills, grow their confidence and discover the joy of playing together. With age-specific programs, players can learn the fundamentals and take on new challenges in a safe, encouraging environment.

The lessons go beyond soccer. Kids learn to support their teammates, respect others and take pride in their progress. Every child gets to play, with an emphasis on participation, sportsmanship and fun. Players are encouraged to play at least half of every game, each game begins with a Youth Sports Pledge, and every child is recognized for participating in the season. Families are part of the team, too—your encouragement makes a difference.

More Teamwork. More Confidence. MORE VALUE FOR Y MEMBERS.

At the Y, youth sports help kids build skills, make friends and discover what they can achieve together. First Coast YMCA Household Members enjoy up to 70% off registration fees for recreational leagues for ages 7 and up, including Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Volleyball and Sports Zone.

Household Members save up to 70%!

Registration fees apply to all participants and vary by sport, season and location.

Big fun for little athletes! Free for YMCA members, Sports Zone introduces children ages 2–7 to sports through playful games and age-appropriate activities. Kids build coordination, confidence and motor skills while learning to take turns, work together and make new friends. Join us every Saturday for 30 minutes of movement, discovery and fun in a safe, encouraging environment.
Every athlete starts somewhere. Micro Sports gives children ages 3–4 a welcoming introduction to sports through simple drills, games and team activities. With a parent by their side, kids build basic skills, coordination and the confidence to try something new. Eight-week sessions are offered year-round in a variety of sports. Parent participation is required.
Small teams. More chances to grow. Starter Soccer introduces kids to the game through an eight-week, 3-on-3 season, giving young players opportunities to practice new skills and learn to work together. Led by trained staff using a structured curriculum, each weekly session includes a 30-minute practice, a 20-minute game and a 10-minute character-building activity. Each participant receives a T-shirt—and encouragement along the way.
Build skills, make friends and experience the excitement of being part of a team. Our eight-week recreational soccer league welcomes boys and girls ages 7–14 to learn the fundamentals and grow their game in a safe, supportive environment. Volunteer coaches lead one practice and one game each week, helping players build confidence, encourage their teammates and show good sportsmanship on and off the field. Age groups may be combined based on registration. Jerseys can be ordered through our website and will be mailed to your home within 1–2 business days.

Requirements: Shin guards are required for all age groups, with socks worn over them. Soccer cleats are recommended; tennis shoes are also acceptable. Screw-in cleats, metal cleats, baseball cleats and football cleats are not permitted. Jewelry is not permitted during YMCA Youth Sports, including earrings. Earrings cannot be covered with tape.

School’s out, and there’s more to explore at the Y! Specialty Camps give kids opportunities to learn new skills, stay active and build confidence while making friends. Experienced staff and dedicated volunteers create a welcoming environment where campers can try something new and discover what they can achieve. Half-day morning or afternoon sessions are offered during winter holidays, spring break and summer.

  • Team Selection: Coaches select players through annual tryouts. Families of selected players will be notified by email, and team selections will also be posted on our Facebook page.
  • Playing Time: Every player receives the same level of instruction. Coaches determine playing time and lineups; a place on the team does not guarantee equal playing time.
  • Practices: Local Club teams begin practicing in late November. Teams meet once a week for two hours, typically on Sunday afternoons or evenings at Dye Clay or Barco-Newton YMCA.
  • Season Tournaments: Teams compete in five one-day tournaments from January through April. Club coaches will share the tournament schedule once it is finalized.

Volunteer as a Youth Sports Coach

You don’t have to be an athlete to help a child grow. As a volunteer coach at the Y, you can help kids build confidence, learn teamwork and feel they belong. Bring your encouragement and a willingness to make a difference—no athletic experience required.
