First Coast YMCA Announces Additions to its Metro Board of Directors
New members began three-year terms October 1st
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dec. 3, 2024 – The First Coast YMCA has announced the addition of four new members to its Metropolitan Board of Directors, while simultaneously saying goodbye to two board members whose terms have concluded. The new board members began their three-year terms October 1 and will join a diverse group of established, local professionals who oversee the First Coast YMCA’s community-wide efforts.
“Our board serves as a steady guide in ensuring we stay dedicated to our core priorities of social responsibility, healthy living, and youth development,” said First Coast YMCA CEO and President Eric Mann. “Their extensive professional expertise is invaluable as we constantly evaluate the best ways we can serve our community.”
Among the new board members is Len Brown, Chief of Global Business Ventures for the PGA Tour. Len has been with the Tour for nearly 20 years and previously served as its Chief Legal Officer. He has his bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Penn State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.
Also joining the board is Marc Munago, who is the Executive Vice President of Development for VanTrust Real Estate in Jacksonville. Mark currently serves on the board of the Jacksonville Humane Society and is active within several professional organizations, including the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the advisory board for the University of Florida Real Estate.
Returning as a board member is former board chair Darnell Smith, who has recently been Chief of Staff for City of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan while also serving as Market President for Florida Blue. Darnell has a longstanding history of serving the Y, having been on the board since 2012 before a brief absence earlier this year.
The final “new” board member is Sarah Bermudez, who is another familiar face returning to the Metro board. Sarah’s extensive sales experience includes currently serving as a Client Business Manager at Steelcase. Sarah has been directly involved in many First Coast YMCA programs and initiatives, including Drivers of Change, which is an annual fundraising event for the First Coast YMCA’s Tiger Academy and teens at the Johnson Family YMCA.
The additions of Brown, Munago, Smith, and Bermudez complete the latest edition of the First Coast YMCA Metro board, which includes former FIS CEO, President, and Chairman Gary Norcross, who was named Chair of the Board earlier this year and whose term runs through March of 2026.
