First Coast YMCA and Flagler Hospital St. Augustine collaborate to bring enhanced health and wellness resources to World Golf Village
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – September 6, 2018 – Today, the First Coast YMCA and Flagler Hospital announced their intent to bring the Y to Flagler Health Village, located in the Murabella community, in order to serve the actively growing World Golf Village area. As one of the nation’s most effective and enduring charitable organizations, the Y’s cause is to strengthen its communities. This aligns with Flagler Hospital’s commitment to building healthier communities and its 130 year history of caring for the residents of St. Johns County. Together, the First Coast YMCA and Flagler Hospital St. Augustine will provide area residents with one-stop access to a wide-spectrum of medical services, health and wellbeing resources, and education and fitness opportunities.
“The First Coast Y is committed to helping all Northeast Florida residents reach their highest potential through health and wellness,” said YMCA of Florida’s First Coast president and CEO Eric K. Mann. “We are excited to combine our community-centered resources and healthy living innovations with Flagler Hospital’s extensive medical capabilities to create a total wellness resource at Flagler Health Village. We believe this partnership will not only nurture the minds, bodies and spirits of local residents, but also help bridge gaps in community needs for years to come.”
While planning and design has yet to be finalized, the Flagler Health Village Y is conceptualized to accommodate 25,000 square feet. This Y will have something for everyone including state-of-the-art-equipment, group exercise studios and a Kidzone, plus classes and programs for those dealing with chronic disease, stress and pregnancy and injury rehabilitation. The new Y will also be home to a Teen Center dedicated to helping all local youth realize who they are and what they can achieve. In addition, the Y will fun activities for members to deepen relationships with each other, develop new skills and interests and connect to the community.
“We look forward to partnering with the Y and residents of World Golf Village to truly build healthier communities, together.” said Flagler Hospital President and CEO Jason Barret. “This includes a focus on physical health as well as the emotional and economic health of local families and businesses. Our commitment to value includes care offerings that are convenient, accessible and affordable. At the same time, we will never lose sight of Flagler Hospital’s unwavering focus on quality, which places us among the top 100 hospitals in America.”
In June, Flagler Hospital officially broke ground on Flagler Health Village, located in the Murabella community in St. Johns County. The health village will include 20,000 square feet dedicated to urgent care, advanced imaging, laboratory services, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, primary care and specialty care.
Both Flagler Health Village and the new Y are expected to open in Summer of 2019 and additional programs and details will be announced in the coming months.
