For a Safer Us
Guided by our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone at the Y by following the highest standards.
Code of Conduct
The YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who fails to comply with safety protocols, policies and procedures that are in place to protect the health and well-being of all.
We have an established Code of Conduct for members, participants and guests which includes:
- No weapons
- No alcohol or drugs
- Zero tolerance for abuse of any kind
Child Protection
The YMCA of Florida’s First Coast has zero tolerance for all forms of abuse or mistreatment at our Ys or in our programs. Ensuring the safety and well-being of children and teens in our care is foundational to everything we do at the Y to help them learn, grow, and thrive.
Background Screenings
The YMCA screens employees, volunteers, members, participants and guests. We reserve the right to deny access or membership to any person who has been accused or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse, is or has been a registered sex offender, has ever been convicted of any offense relating to the use, sale, possession, or transportation of narcotics or habit forming and/or dangerous drugs, or is presently or habitually under the influence of dangerous drugs or chemicals, narcotics or intoxicating beverages.
Water Safety
- All children will be swim-tested before entering the pool.
- Our association has trained YMCA team members and lifeguards based on data from the American Meteorological Society. Our policy dictates that we wait 30 minutes from the last time we hear thunder or see lightning to (re)open our pools.
- Swim Testing Policy
- Pool Rules
