Our freestyle core classes offer you a variety of exercises and challenges to keep you strong and healthy…with classes offered in a variety of time length and partnered options (such as Core Strength, Core and Stretch, and Abs and Arms)! In a core class, participants will be guided through exercises that target all of the muscles of the trunk, including abdominals, low back, and glutes to help improve posture, balance, and low back health.
Core classes have numerous benefits for all levels!

Tips and Preparation
For the best possible experience, new core class participants are encouraged to arrive to class early to meet the instructor and have time to gather and set up equipment. No experience is necessary!
- The Y provides any needed equipment for these classes. Please bring your own workout mat. We suggest arriving early to set up your mat and any needed equipment.
- Come to class dressed and ready to move your body.
- Wear loose-fitting, functional workout clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow.
- Wear proper athletic shoes with a comfortable fit. Open-toed and/or open-backed shoes, slides, and Crocs will not be permitted.
- Start with light weights and resistance, focusing on proper technique and breath. Utilize options as needed!
- Please bring water and a sweat towel.
