BODYSTEP®

Basic stepping, just like walking up and down stairs, is at the heart of Les Mills BODYSTEP® – a cardio workout that will really tone your body! You can expect a mixture of upbeat, rhythmic stepping with squat and lunge patterns to work the legs. Combine this with movements like burpees, push ups, and weight plate exercises…and the result is a fun, uplifting, full-body workout! With options for every body, there’s something for everybody!

Tips and Preparation

For the best possible experience, new BODYSTEP® class participants are encouraged to arrive to class early to meet the instructor and have time to gather and set up equipment. No experience is necessary!

  • The Y provides any needed equipment for these classes. Please bring your own workout mat. We suggest arriving early to set up your equipment.
  • Come to class dressed and ready to move your body.
  • Wear loose-fitting, functional workout clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow.
  • Wear proper athletic shoes with a comfortable fit. Open-toed and/or open-backed shoes, slides, and Crocs will not be permitted. Cross-training shoes designed for lateral movement are highly recommended.
  • Start with a low step height and gradually increase as you feel ready.
  • Please bring water and a sweat towel.
  • *Not all classes are offered at all locations. Check your Y’s schedule for availability and additional class variety.
