SilverSneakers® Classic

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and improve range of motion, thereby improving daily-living activities. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Tips and Preparation

For the best possible experience, new SilverSneakers® Classic class participants are encouraged to arrive to class early to meet the instructor and have time to gather and set up equipment. No experience is necessary!

  • The Y provides any needed equipment for this class. We suggest arriving early to set up your equipment.
  • Come to class dressed ready to move your body. Wear comfortable, functional workout clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow.
  • Wear proper athletic shoes with a comfortable fit. Open-toed and/or open-backed shoes, slides, and Crocs will not be permitted.
  • Start with light weights and resistance, focusing on proper technique and breath. Utilize options as needed!
  • Please bring water and a sweat towel.
