Pilates classes offer a functional approach to strength and flexibility training. Pilates exercises are created to strengthen abdominal and back muscles by developing pelvic stability and abdominal control. The mind/body connection and awareness developed in Pilates will improve your posture and form in all areas of your fitness program.
At our First Coast YMCA branches, we offer a variety of Pilates classes, from Mat Pilates to leveled classes to Pilates Gold!

Tips and Preparation
For the best possible experience, new Pilates class participants are encouraged to arrive to class early to meet the instructor and have time to gather and set up equipment.
- The Y will provide all equipment needed for this class. Please bring your own workout mat. We suggest arriving early to set up your mat.
- Come to class dressed and ready to move your body. Wear functional, flexible workout clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow.
- These classes are typically performed in bare or sock feet.
- Please bring water and a sweat towel.
